Our Goals
WIN strives to promote women's status, particularly in developing countries, as it is critical for accomplishing social justice and economic development. While women's status has improved in many countries, much still remains to be done, especially in the world's poorest countries. Besides lacking adequate social and economic infrastructure, poor countries are more often than not entrenched in rigid traditional cultural mores and practices. In many countries, girls receive less education and health care than boys and have lower social status in the family and society. As a consequence, they are less prepared for motherhood, social integration and economic productivity.
WIN is therefore dedicated to supporting women's education and economic development projects. It offers scholarship programs in selected Asian countries through 2050 to girls from very poor families to enable them have access to educational opportunities. It also supports women's economic projects through training, job creation and marketing. Thus, they will be better equipped for their future and their families will also be healthier and more prosperous.
Through its affiliate, 2050, WIN promotes political advocacy for women's development. It provides seminars and study tours, whenever possible, for parliamentarians and other decision makers from both donor and developing countries to advance the cause of women's development.
